Diane Keaton, Fiercely Independent (working title)

By Camille Juza

Diane Keaton has had a prolific career, appearing in more than 250 films. Her filmography immediately brings to mind her unmistakable New York chic, her breakthrough role in Coppola’s The Godfather alongside Al Pacino, her confirmation with Woody Allen and Warren Beatty… and, more unexpectedly, her presence on screen at over 75 years old in box office hit comedies. But Diane Keaton’s life and work have above all been a reflection of contemporary feminist struggles, of women’s intergenerational battles for greater emotional, economic, intellectual, and sexual independence.
