Michelangelo, saint or sinner?

By Chiara Battistini

With David, Pietà or the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo left behind one of the most emblematic works in art history. Portraying an artist genius, this documentary aims to demystify him and reveal the ordinary man behind the legend. The film explores the little-known and tumultuous story behind Michelangelo’s Moses sculpture – an ambitious but controversial project commissioned to be Pope Julius II’s Mausoleum, delayed by 40 years due to Vatican political struggles and almost ruined Michelangelo’s reputation.
